Alek Spray and his team are on the verge of a breakthrough that could produce clean, unlimited energy. In the wrong hands, the same technology could become a deadly weapon and spark a new arms race. As Alek struggles to create a transformative energy source using a nuclear reaction often mistaken for cold fusion, he faces pressure from the U.S. government to apply his findings to building a weapon of mass destruction.
“Gerry Yonas introduces current day science concepts in a realistic manner into his plot along with characters who are credible based on my experience working in the national laboratories. The book is fast paced and easily readable by all audiences. While this is science fiction, the science involved in the plot makes one ponder what other ideas are out there for development into either good or evil applications, like the Manhattan Project quandary in WWII over nuclear energy for weapons or electricity. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it to sci fi aficionados and the general public alike.”

‹›“A sexy, intelligent thriller. The Dragon’s CLAW is a compelling mélange of science, national security intrigue, mystery, politics and a dash of the supernatural. It’s a rare novel that so expertly depicts the role government scientists play in foreign policy, particularly when it comes to big power rivalries between the United States and China. If you’re a fan of James Bond, this is the book for you. And like all good novels, or meals, it leaves you hungry for the next course."

‹›“This book is a masterful collection of spies, intrigue, and the ever-present government bureaucracy churning too slowly and at cross-purposes with both offensive weapons and efforts at peace. Yes, it is a work of fiction (especially the ‘science’) but, as in reality, the spy hunters find spies, real and imagined: the bean counters care only about the numbers; and, the scientists either see their weapons as protecting against the ‘Other’ or maintaining peace. Read this book to find out how it all plays out. You won’t put it down until the final page.”

‹›Dr Yonas has crafted a story which is both hugely entertaining and thought-provoking. Like a mix of Joseph Heller and H.G. Wells, this is at once a satire on political research priorities and a love letter to the possibilities, promises and processes of cutting-edge scientific inquiry. I loved it.

‹›I loved this book. The plot is compelling, and, as a former scientist in the Department of Energy, I recognized some rather familiar characters and political scenarios straight from real life. As I read the book, I found myself trying to figure out how the scientific processes described actually worked. I often had to remind myself that this is just a novel. None of this has been done… yet! The ending left me looking forward to the sequel. And finally, I don’t know who the real life version of Gabi is, but I’d sure like to meet her. Gerry Yonas may very well be the next HG Wells.

‹›The Dragon's Claw is a thoughtful near-future techno thriller that blends intriguing ideas and interesting characters with high-stakes action. Government scientists trying to invent a new energy source get more energy out than they expected, and that big bang triggers a high stakes series of events. A dangerous drug lord and a rogue Chinese general have a couple of scientists on their payroll and have captured another one who knows much more about the secret. The scientists, bureaucrats and politicians are real, the drug lord is scary, and the stakes are high. Don't expect you will be able to put this one down.

‹›What if, someone unexpectedly discovered the secret of controlled fusion energy in a compact form, promising either clean limitless energy to humanity or instead a power source for terrifying new weapons. That scenario is explored in this fast paced novel by Gerold Yonas, former leading scientist in research programs in both controlled fusion energy and directed energy weapons at Sandia National Laboratories and former chief scientist of the Reagan era “Star Wars” Defense initiative. Leaping in locales from DC to the Los Alamos laboratory, birthplace of the Atomic Bomb, and then deep into the jungles of strife-torn Mexico and the secret nuclear catacombs of the Peoples Republic of China, we follow the main characters as they race against time to contain the secret power they have inadvertently released into a troubled world. The secret has been stolen from Los Alamos, and pursuing it is the guilt-ridden head of the project, Alek Spray, who only wanted to solve global warming. He is aided by a team of other scientists and a blonde bombshell of an FBI agent Gabi Stebbens , who is as quick with 9mm Glock as she is with a witty comeback. They are pursuing two former Los Alamos, staffers who absconded with the project files, and also searching for a lovely, mysterious, and driven, mathematician- the half Chinese Sunli Hidalgo, who has also disappeared. Is Sunli part of the theft of the project files, or is she simply a brilliant victim of a vast geopolitical drama? Prepare for a crash course in the tensions of Energy/Defense science at its leading edge, by someone who knows the territory well. Altogether, a great read.
